The 2018 Ascend Pittsburgh Steel Town Throw Down is the first stop for the USA Climbing National Cup Series.

Each event of the National Cup Series will have a cash purse of $10,000 and USA Climbing will be awarding another $10,000 at the conclusion of the series. Competitors will receive points from their results at each National Cup competition, as well as at the Bouldering Open National Championship, resulting in a regularly updated national ranking. A prize purse will be awarded to the top ranked competitors at the conclusion of the season.
